Deacon Lue Henry Lockett was born on September 22, 1936, in Macon Mississippi, to the late Henry Lockett and the late Carrie Mae Conner. He peacefully departed this life on July 6. 2026, at 2:15 a.m. at the Noxubee General Hospital Swing Bed Unit.
On July 10, 1954, he was united in holy matrimony to his beloved wife. Minister Veola Lockett. Their union was blessed with nine children. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Minister Veola Lockett: two sons, Lue Henry Lockett, Jr. and Jerry Lockett: a daughter-in-love, Andrewnette Lockett a grandson, LaQuinton Lockett; and a granddaughter, Shayla Lockett
Deacon Lockett accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful and dedicated member of New Providence Baptist Church in Macon, Mississippi, until his health began to decline. He served with distinction as Chairman of the Deacon Board and as Superintendent of Sunday School for many years. His commitment to the church, his reverence for God, and his steadfast leadership were evident in every aspect of his service.
He will be remembered as a man of deep faith, unwavering integrity, and a generous heart. A devoted provider for his family, he never hesitated to help anyone in need. He loved singing in Sunday School, and two of his favorite songs were "Oh Lord, I Have Done What You Told Me to Do' and "Let Jesus Lead You.' His life was a testament of humility, compassion, and service to others.
He leaves to cherish his memory four devoted sons: Minister Dennis (Deana) Lockett of Whitsett, North Carolina; Pastor James (Evelyn) Lockett of Aliceville, Alabama; Bishop Calvin (Lynnita) Lockett of Clarksville Tennessee; and John (Kim) Conner of Macon, Mississippi. He also leaves five loving daughters: Minister Sherry (Willie) Ivy, Minister Mary (John) Cheatham, Elder Carol Lockett, and Teretha Conner, all of Macon, Mississippi; and Minister Brenda (Randy) Hill of Columbus, Mississippi
He is further survived by a multitude of sisters and brothers; thirty-two grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; two adopted sons, Deacon Darrell Taylor and Brother Ron sisters-in-love; Daly; one adopted daughter, Fatina Taylor; one goddaughter, Shirley Conner, brothers-in-love; extended relatives: cherished friends: and a devoted caregiver, Tyheshia King.
His legacy of faith love, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
