Obituary

Mr. Marques Antoine Lanier, affectionately known as Buck was born on April 6, 1981, in Columbus, Mississippi, to Diane Lanier and D.C. Mitchell, Buck was a loving son, father, husband, brother, and friend whose vibrant spirit and remarkable talents touched the lives of many.

Buck attended Columbus City Schools, where he nurtured his love for music and faith. He accepted Christ at a young age and became an active member of Southside M.B. Church, where he sang in the choir, sharing his exceptional vocal gifts with the congregation. His passion for gospel music was a defining aspect of his life, and he had the privilege of performing both locally and internationally, inspiring countless individuals with his powerful voice.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Buck found fulfillment in his career. He began his journey in barbering, where he worked for many years at Hair 911, building lasting relationships with his clients and friends. Most recently, he served as a supervisor in car detailing at Mitsubishi, where his dedication and leadership were greatly appreciated.

Buck's musical talents extended beyond the Southside Church Choir; he was a valued member of the Columbus Gospel Youth Choir, New Converted Voices, Redemption, and collaborated with various groups, including Lonnie Weaver & Genesis, Tim Bowen & Deliverance, and Determined. He also played the drums, a passion he cherished until his health began to decline.

Buck is remembered for his infectious smile, kind heart, and unwavering faith. He had a unique ability to uplift those around him, and his legacy of love and music will forever resonate in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dan and Ida Lanier and Bessie Earl Williams, his aunts, Dorothy Lanier Jones and Lisa Lanier.
