Obituary

Mary Jane Clayborn was born in Artesia, MS. on March 29, 1937 to Ethel Lee Davis and Freddie Scott Davis. She was baptized at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church in Columbus, MS. She resided in Mississippi well into her adulthood, where she then moved with family to Alabama, which has been her home for over 25 years.

Mary was a pillar of strength and love in her family. She played a significant role in raising her grandchildren and great grandchildren, imparting wisdom and fostering a nurturing environment that will resonate through generations.

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the age of 87, Mary Jane Clayborn peacefully transitioned at her home in Birmingham, Alabama.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents:, Ethel Lee Wilson and Freddie Scott Davis, her brothers: Johnny Lashley and Freddie Lee Davis, and her husband, Jimmy Clayborn. Mary leaves to cherish her legacy: her daughter: Lander Jones (Stanley) of Birmingham, Al. , grand-children: Dedra Armistad, Kimberly Richardson, Stanley Jones Jr, Amber Hassell (Joseph), of Birmingham, Al.  and Levon Jones of Charlotte, North Carolina. She leaves behind 10 great grandchildren- Isiah, Xavier, Zachary, Landon, Joseph, Aaliyah, Mya, Tyler, Michelle, and Makayla of Birmingham, Al.  She is also survived by 2 great-great grandchildren- Deandre and Nicholas, and 1 sister, Virginia Aaron (Thomas) of Columbus, Ms. As well as a host of nieces and nephews.
