Mary Tompkins was born on October 25, 1955, in Shuqualak, MS to the late Mary and Phil Poe. She was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life Samuel Tompkins and to his union three sons were born. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and four siblings, Jimmy, Aron, Mildred and Allen Poe.
She served as a nursing assistant at the Noxubee County School District and the Noxubee County Nursing Home. She also provided services in the laundry department at the Noxubee County Nursing Home for many years before she retired. She was a person what could get along with anyone with a big smile.
She leaves to cherish her memory to a special friend, Tommy Hibbler; three sons, Tervell (Dominick) Tompkins, Merrick (Tacara) Tompkins and Derrick (Larhonda) Tompkins all of Macon, MS; for family additions, Jackie Garner, Tyrone Garner, John Garner all of Panola, AL and Curtis Gandy of Macon, MS; three extended family members, Christopher White, Ondrae White and Andrew White all of Macon, MS; three brothers, Phil (Claretta) Poe of Iowa, Andrew (Ann) Poe, David (Roberta) Poe both of Cleveland, OH; four sisters, Lillian (Joe) Reeves of Cleveland, OH, Eliabeth (Dave) Washington of Detroit, MI, Fannie Mosley and Gladys Jenkins both Shuqualak, MS; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
