Mary Jean
Williams
September 2, 1953 – March 6, 2026
Mary Jean Williams, affectionately known as "Nana," was born on September 2, 1953, in Lowndes County, MS, to the late Willie B. and Lottie Mae Williams. A loving daughter, devoted mother, cherished sister, adored grandmother, and loyal friend, her presence brought warmth and comfort to all who knew her.
At an early age, Mary Jean confessed her faith in Christ and became a lifelong member of Military Chapel U.M. Church, where she served faithfully until her health no longer allowed. Her quiet and compassionate spirit was a testament to her faith, always willing to extend a helping hand to others in any way she could. Her grandchildren and great grands held a special place in her heart, and she poured her love into each of them. She also enjoyed spending time with her beloved family on any occasion, especially when we came together to prepare her favorite meal. (Fried Fish)
For many years, Mary dedicated her time and effort to her work in housekeeping at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Her diligence and kind demeanor touched the lives of colleagues and patients alike.
Mary Jean peacefully departed this life on March 6, 2026, at Windsor Nursing Home Facility leaving a legacy of love and kindness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie B. and Lottie Mae Williams, and her three brothers, Curtis Gunter, Lewis Pratt, and Otis Williams.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her only son, Anthony Williams of Caledonia, MS; her siblings, Louise Wallace of Grand Rapids, MI, Willie Bob (Lois) Williams of Pheba, MS, Elizabeth Williams, Jessie Williams, and Carolyn Pointer, all of Caledonia, MS. Her memory will also be treasured by her grandchildren, Iesha Williams, Gemriah Williams, and Shantae Tabor; and her great-grandchildren, Elijah, Landyn, Londyn, Kingston, Gemriah, Jr., Adelynn, and Ariya. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved and cared for deeply. “Nana” gentle spirit and unwavering love will be profoundly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
