Obituary

Matilda McGee was born June 24, 1937  in Oktibbeha County, MS to Luerena McGee and Arthur Robertson, Sr.  She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Brownridge M.B. Church where she held various positions including usher board president, Sunday school youth teacher, and missionary society president.

Matilda was a graduate of B.L. Moor High School in Crawford, MS.  She was employed at Sanderson Plumbing in Columbus, MS until her retirement.

Matilda departed this life on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT in Columbus, MS.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Keffer L. McGee; two grandchildren, Quillie Hendrix, III and Frenneka McGee; two sisters, Annie Lee McGee Robertson and Julia McGee Crusoe; three brothers, Sanders McGee, Sr., Ben McGee, and Willie B. McGee.

Matilda leaves to cherish her many memories to her loving children: two sons, Devoyd McGee of Crawford, MS and Fredrick McGee of Columbus, MS; two daughters, Mildred Hendrix (Quillie, Jr) and Belinda M. Tate (Kelvin) both of Crawford, MS; four sisters, Louise Carter, Ida Faye Carter, Sharon Chandler (Robert), and Marion Blair (Russell) all of Starkville, MS; four brothers, John Arthur McGee (Thelma) of Columbus, MS, Arthur Robertson (Nell) of Forth Worth, TX, Bobby Robertson of Kankakee, IL, Purnell McGee of Starkville, MS; sister-in-law, Regina McGee. She also leaves seven grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
