Mattie Williams Temple

Mattie Clara Williams Temple, affectionately known to all as "Matt Matt," gracefully entered eternal rest on May 5, 2026, at her cherished residence. Born on November 16, 1946, in Macedonia, Alabama, to the late Milton and Alice Hill, Mattie’s life was a testament to unwavering love, boundless compassion, and a spirit that illuminated every path she trod.

Mattie was the epitome of devotion – a loving wife, a nurturing mother, a devoting grandmother, a steadfast sister, and a loyal friend whose presence brought comfort and joy to countless lives. Her deep faith was a guiding light, expressed through her dedicated membership at the Canaan M.B. Church, where her spirit found solace and community.

A woman of vibrant interests and endless capabilities, Mattie found delight in the simple pleasures and grand adventures of life. Her kitchen was a haven of delicious aromas, reflecting her love for cooking. She discovered serenity in fishing, joy in shopping, and expressed her creativity through the art of sewing, crafting homemade quilts that now serve as tangible embraces of her enduring love. Her passion for

jewelry and her adventurous spirit for travel, eager to explore and witness the wonders of the world, painted a vivid portrait of her zest for life. A true "human GPS," she possessed an extraordinary gift for navigation, whether pouring over an atlas or confidently commanding the open road from behind the wheel of a truck.

Mattie was preceded in her journey to glory by her beloved parents, Milton and Alice Hill, her two cherished daughters, Cynthia Carter and Tina Marie Hill, and her grandson, Lance “MVP” Hill with whom she is now undoubtedly reunited in peace.

She leaves an extraordinary legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories to be treasured by her devoted husband, Bruce "Wayne" Temple, and her loving children: Sophia H. McMillian, Tammie D. (Jeff) Warren, Jacqulyn Hill, Linda H. (Jessie) Tate, Audre H. (Jeffery) Sanders, and Velvet Hill. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her 21 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, each a testament to the beautiful tapestry of family she so lovingly woven. She is also survived by an honorary sister and brother: Sharon and John Keaton, a host of adoring aunts, great aunts, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever carry her spirit within their own.

Mattie Clara Williams Temple’s departure leaves an irreplaceable void, but her luminous spirit, her infectious laughter, and her enduring love will continue to inspire and comfort all who were blessed to know her.
