Mr. Maurice Lamar Nance was the son of Cornelius James and Betty (Silas Jr.) Peoples, born January 31, 1970 in Lowndes County. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Beulah Grove Baptist Church.

He was a graduate from Motley High School Class of 1988. He was employed with Columbus Marble Work and Allied Manufacturing.

He transitioned on February 2, 2025 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. He was surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mauricio Nance and grandmother who raised him, Jim Ella Price.

He leaves behind precious memories to many people he touched. He leaves his unwavering love to his children, Courtney Neal, Brendon Nance, Deveun Nance all of Columbus, MS, Anthony Walker of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Terron Nance of Artesia, MS and Delvin James of Washington, D.C.; God-Brothers, Eddie (Shalaan) Oliver- Hendricks, Deska (Tamera) Mayfield, and Fredrick McGee all of Columbus, MS; aunts, Mary (Jimmy) Peoples of Artesia, MS, Betty Morgan of Columbus, MS and uncles, Hason (Marie)  Price of West Point, MS, Walter (Mary Ann) Jones of Columbus, MS. He leaves his generosity and loyalty spirit to five grandchildren; and  a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
