Melvin Bradley, born on March 28, 1951, in Steens, MS was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was the cherished son of George and Rosie Bradley, who welcomed him into a life filled with love and purpose.
Melvin was a man of many passions. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was watching the news to stay informed, tending to his farm with a deep love for his cows, or maintaining the beauty of his lawn. His dedication to his community was evident in his role as a trustee at Anderson Grove M.B. Church, where he served with unwavering faith and commitment.
A proud veteran, Melvin served in the National Guard and bravely fought in both the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. His service to his country was a testament to his character, embodying the values of courage and sacrifice. After his military career, he continued to work diligently, driving trucks for various companies, always with a strong work ethic and a smile. He was also a self-employed painter and sand blaster for the surrounding area.
Melvin was met in Heaven by his beloved parents, his son Thomas T. Butler, and his sisters Pricilla Clark, Ruth Oliver, and Josie Shields. Their reunion brings comfort to those who mourn his passing.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Melvin is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Bradley; his children, Calvin Butler, Tessie Randle, Tonya (Allen) McKinney, and Randy Randle; two grandchildren: Moesha Saddler and Precious Butler and two great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy: Bailee Coleman and MaCai Smith; and his siblings, Thomas (Dorothy) Bradley, Leon (Ruth) Bradley, Ervin Bradley, Jerome (Frances) Bradley, Kirby Edwards, Mary Ann Lawrence, and Hattie Blair; two brothers-in-law, Governor Thomas (Kim), Dee Andrew Troupe (Julie) and William Shields. He is also remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends whose lives he touched with his kindness and warmth.
Melvin Bradley will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his unwavering spirit, his love for family, and his commitment to serving others. As we celebrate his life, let us carry forward his legacy of love, strength, and dedication. May he rest in peace.
