Mereno Van
Hubbard, Jr.
July 12, 1987 – January 25, 2026
Mereno Van Hubbard, Jr., born July 12, 1987, in Starkville, Mississippi, to Mereno Van Hubbard, Sr., and Tracy Hill, left this life on January 25, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Mississippi. He passed peacefully surrounded by memories of the life he shared with family and friends who loved him dearly.
Mareno grew up in Macon, Mississippi, and attended Noxubee County Schools, where he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. He carried deep love for his family and a generous spirit that touched everyone he met. An avid outdoorsman, Mareno found joy in all aspects of nature. He cherished animals —particularly horses and bulls—and appreciated wildlife, the quiet of a fishing boat at dawn, and the thrill of a successful hunt. The outdoors gave him a sense of peace and a place where his true self shone brightest.
In the working world, Mareno wore many hats. He approached his jobs with reliability and a steady work ethic, including time with Rock Bottom Furniture and at Hardee's. Those who knew him well understood that his work was more than a means to an end—it was a way he showed up for others, earning respect for his dedication and his willingness to help wherever needed.
Mareno's life was a tapestry of family, friends, and shared moments. He leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Ro'Miya Noel Walker of Aberdeen, MS; his loving parents, Tracy (Freddy) Hill of Columbus, Mississippi, and Mereno Van Hubbard, Sr., as well as three siblings who were a constant source of pride: Victor Hill of Phoenix, Arizona; Kristopher Hill of Macon, Mississippi and 3 additional siblings, Remonia and Erica Mosley and Sergio Hubbard; and Freddie Hill II of Red Bay, Alabama; six aunts; one uncle, Loran (Rhonda) Daniels of St. Louis, MO and he was the cherished grandson of Elaine Daniel, Dorothy Hubbard, and Tommy Franklin; and a host of other relatives and friends who will carry his memories in their hearts.
