Mollie Jenkins was born April 12, 1938 in Noxubee County, Mississippi to the late Fred Sherrod and Emma Sam Sherrod.

Mollie was raised in Noxubee County but she lived most of her adult life in Columbus, MS. She attended Plum Grove Elementary School and Hunt High School.

At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church in Brooksville, MS.

Mollie worked as a cook at Aurora Health and Rehabilitation for many years and later she worked at The Arrington – Assisted Living Community as a cook until her retirement in the year 2000. Although, cooking was her occupation and helped to provide for her family, it was also her love language. She could cook ANYTHING! Along with cooking, she enjoyed shopping, talking on the phone with her children, sisters and friends and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mollie married the late Robert L. Jenkins Sr. on March 26, 1960.  To this union, they produced seven children.

Mollie transitioned from her earthly to her heavenly life on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Jenkins, Sr., a son, John F. Jenkins, her parents, Fred and Emma S. Sherrod, two brothers, James Sherrod Sr., and Jessie Lee Sherrod; five sisters: Freddie Mae Summerville, Rebecca Blevins, Rosie Lee Thomas, Edith Sherrod and Emma Sherrod.

She leaves to cherish her memory: six children, Bernard (Cherri) Jenkins, Lorian Jenkins, Robert L. (Schelerria) Jenkins Jr., Angela Faye Jenkins, Annetrice Jenkins, Tyronda Jenkins; six grand- children: Anyya Whittlesey, Joshua Jenkins, Jada Jenkins, Jasmine Jenkins, Lauryn Whittlesey, Tyler Hubbard and one great- grandchild, Nehemiah Whittlesey; four sisters, Fannie Sherrod, Callie (Otis) Williams, Bettye (DC) Mitchell and Susie (Eddie) Hendricks; and one brother, Jimmy Lee Sherrod; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
