Ollie M. Childress Sherrod was born on September 11, 1936 in Macon, MS, to Micheal 'Mike' Mason and Joe L. Mason. of Macon MS. She departed her earthly life on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in Columbus, MS leaving all pain and suffering with her earthly body.

Ollie openly and freely acknowledged Christ throughout her life. She was a member of Sixth Avenue M.B. Church in Columbus, MS under the leadership of Pastor Bobby E. Woodrick and Pastor David Jefferson Johnson until her departure.  She became matriarch of her family and wouldn't hesitate to point her finger at a son and say 'Hey, I'm talking Here'.

Ollie began her adult life as a Nurse at Noxubee General Hospital where she nursed and meet her future husband / father of her children. The family moved from Macon, MS to Columbus, MS., where she initially did housekeeping for various homes. She was later employed at MUW as a Cafeteria Worker. She retired from American Bosch / United Technologies as an assembly line worker and setup technician.

Ollie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons and a daughter.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories with her sons, Willie H. Bankhead and Frank J. Sledge of Columbus, MS; Joe L. Sledge of Fayetteville, NC;  Fredricke A. Sledge of Lawton, OK; numerous grandchildren and great grand- children.  She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
