Obituary

Otis Emerson Blunt, Sr., was born in Lowndes County, Mississippi on April 12, 1941, to Mr. Nobel and Mary Cook Blunt. He was the second of eleven children. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He was led to complete his services at United Christian Baptist Church in Columbus, Mississippi. On Friday, September 8, 2023, Otis transitioned at his home surrounded by family.

Otis and Mary Blunt, Sr., were married on June 20, 1971, a union that span for 52 years. Otis and Mary made a home for their three children that was full of unconditional love. The door of their home was always open to relatives and friends. Otis' personality and contagious smile helped him to never meet a stranger. Whether you knew him as Dump, Buddy, or OB his vibrant spirit left an impact on everyone he met. Otis was employed at many places such as Sub's Barbeque, Barnhills, and the owner of Buddy's Restaurant. Otis was employed by Phillips Construction Company for over 40 years where he worked until March 2023.

Otis was proceeded in death by his parents, his son: Otis Emerson Blunt Jr., sister: Mrs. Catherine Glover, brothers: Dan Blunt, Bobby Blunt, James Blunt, Grandmother Catherine Jennings, and nephew H.C. Jones Jr. (Carlos).

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary N. Blunt; his children: Edward (Fredrica) Blunt, Wendy Felicia Blunt, and Sebrina Henry all of Columbus, Mississippi. Grandchildren: Brittney Ann Perkins, Keirra (Eddie) Brown, Mary-Catherine Blunt, George Perkins, Jr., Emerson Perkins, Kelly Williams, and Bradley Blunt-Hill all of Columbus, Mississippi; Six great-grandchildren: Christopher Blunt, Corey LaGrone, Derrick Roby Jr., Kentrail Turner Jr., Taylor Grace Brown, and Riley James Perkins; sisters: Luvenia (H.C.) Jones of Lakeland, Florida, Mary Crawford of Lakeland, Florida, Gloria (Norman) Griffin of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Clara Ann Maddox of Lakeland, Florida, Charlette Rena Blunt of Orlando, Florida, brother: Edward Blunt of Columbus, Mississippi; godchildren: Rita Cunningham, Dennis (Andrianna) Cunningham, Cynthia (Darron) Jordan, David (Melissa) Cunningham, Tonya Cunningham, Deshonda N. Hill, Sylvester Craddieth Jr, John Christopher Lewis, Rosie Sanders, and Alice Newton; A host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
