A TIME TO BE BORN
R.L. Williams Sr. was born October 27, 1933 in Starkville, Ms. To the late Elijah Williams Sr. and Ruth
Johnson Williams.
A Time to Live
He accepted Christ at an early age where he joined Spring Hill M. B. C. Church in Starkville, MS.
R. L. was educated in the Starkville School System. He married the late Sallie M. Williams on June 6,
1953 and some years later moved to Columbus, Ms. In 1959. Where he remained a faithful member
until he departed from us. Mr. Williams served as one of Mt. Zion oldest deacon. He also served on
the financial committee for many years.
He retired from Brookshire's Dairy Plant also Dairy Fresh for 49 years , as a supervisor and a machine
operator for both companies. He enjoyed working "many, many" jobs also farming. R. L. bragged
about his traveling trips to his friends, and attended college football games to watch his grands
perform. Some other past time activities were hunting, cutting wood, and fixing farm equipments,
and watching his vegetables harvest while sharing with his friends. He enjoyed visiting family,
relatives and grandchildren.
A Time To Die
R. L. Departed his earthly life on August 31, 2024 at 3:00 o'clock. He is preceded in death by his wife,
Sallie M. Williams, son R.L. and six siblings.
A Time To Cherish
R. L. legacy is left with his children, Sandra E. W. Hardy of Jackson, MS., Barbara Williams of Columbus
, Ms., Linda Renee Williams- Cockrell of Jackson, Ms., Darrell D. Williams of Jackson, Ms; seven
grandchildren, ; six great—grandchildren and brother Rufus Williams Sr.(Ellen) of Jackson, Ms.,
Clarence Kelly( Evelyn) Florissant, MO., sisters Emma Jean McClure, University City , MO. , Jeanette
Jackson, Edwardsville, IL., Betty Lewis (Ray) St Louis, MO. , two sister- in-laws Mary Johnson, Phoebe,
MS. , Maxine Williams, Memphis, Tenn., a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and
friends.
