Robert James Blunt Sr., 70, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS, surrounded by his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories that will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Born on June 21, 1953 in Columbus, MS, Robert Blunt Sr. was the youngest of six children of Nathaniel Blunt Sr. and Lorene Evans Blunt. From an early age, it was evident that he possessed a special kindness and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. Robert graduated in 1973 from Caldwell High School, and worked in various roles at Omnova Solutions for a total of 37 years. Following the closure of Omnova, he worked for Lincare for 3 years, where he served as a light for those he came in contact with. Robert then retired to enjoy a life of leisure with his wife, Janis. Robert Blunt Sr. lived a life characterized by faith, positivity and resilience. His love knew no bounds, and he was a pillar of strength for those around him. His drive for excellence and his encouraging and supportive demeanor have made a lasting impact on the lives he touched.
Faith in Jesus Christ and family were at the core of Robert Blunt's existence. He is survived by his wife of over fifty years, Janis Blunt, his four children Tawan [Pat] Williams, Robert Blunt Jr., Kimberly Blunt, Trah [Amanda] Blunt, and his thirteen grandchildren, who were all the light of his life. His devotion to his family was evident in every aspect, and the bonds he forged will continue to thrive in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Robert's numerous extended family, friends and acquaintances will remember him for his bold and encouraging spirit. From his infectious laughter and sage advice, to the genuine care he showed for others, Robert had a way of making everyone feel valued and loved. Whether it was through serving the needy at Loaves and Fishes, coaching little league baseball and basketball, or through uplifting conversations at church, work or in passing, Robert had a way of bringing out the best in those around him. He worked each day to be Christ-like and serve as a light for others. Robert enjoyed sharing his faith while serving others through various capacities over the years. Robert Blunt Sr. was also a well known prayer warrior, to whom many would turn to for prayer in times of need.
