Robert Earl Smith, Jr., affectionately known as “R.E.” was born in Brooksville, MS on October 29, 1969, to Robert Earl Smith, Sr. and Mary Louise Smith. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Harrison Grove M.B. Church.

R.E. passed away at home peacefully on June 8, 2026.

R.E. attended Motley High School where he graduated in 1987 and later worked at Red Cap for many years, where he met some wonderful people and had lifelong friendships with. He was loved by many because of his caring ways and the laughter and joy he brought to our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his father Robert Earl Smith, Sr, his sister, Doris Jean Smith and his grandparents.

R.E. leaves behind one son, Darius Antonio Smith of Columbus, MS; his mother, Mary Louise Smith of Crawford, MS; his brothers, Casey James Smith, Sr and Timmie Terrell Smith, Sr both of Crawford, MS; his sisters, Lowanda Reniece Smith of Columbus, MS and Shanitra Shanta (Cornelius) Harris of Crowley, TX; five nieces, four nephews, one great-niece, two great-nephews, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
