Robert "Tatum"
Lampkin
November 26, 1940 – November 10, 2022
Robert Lampkin was born November 26, 1940, in Columbus Mississippi, to the late Laura Blanche and M. V. Lampkin. He accepted Christ at an early age at Southside Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life he attended Canaan Missionary Baptist Church with his lovely wife who is a
faithful member.
Tatum, as he was affectionally called by his family and friends, retired from the United States Army after serving 25 years. After his military services, he started a career in the Juvenile Justice System. He started as a detention officer and eventually became Supervisor at the center. He worked hard and brought joy to everyone who worked with him and knew him. One of his favorite sayings was "two hands can't spend out of one pocket." He was truly loved by the staff and the kids.
Robert Lampkin was married to the beautiful Joyce Barry Lampkin for 55 years. To this union two amazing children were born, DeAndrea (Prince) Miller, and Robert (Angela) Lampkin Jr. He was one of seven kids, and he was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend.
He is preceded in death by his mother Laura Blanche, his father, M.V, Lampkin, his sister Pinky Coleman, and brothers Eugene and
Charles Matthews.
