Obituary

On July 30 1945, God blessed the late Roosevelt & Beatrice Turner with their third child, Roosevelt Turner, Jr. Born into a Christian home, he accepted Christ at an early age.

Roosevelt Turner, Jr. attended Hunt High School in the Columbus School System.

In 1964, he entered in the United States Army Active Service where he finished high school with a General Education Development Equivalent. He achieved the rank of Sergeant (E-5).

Early in life Roosevelt Married Corine Amos who preceded him in death.

Roosevelt learned early that through faith and hard work he could define personal success. He furthered his education by obtaining an Associate Degree in General Studies from Loop Junior College, a Certificate in Transportation from Daley College, and a Certificate in Technology from Chicago Institute of Technology. He continued his professional Development in Sales Training, Transportation Management, Union Relations Courses, XL2000 Excellence in Leadership, Freight Brokerage, Situational Leadership, Management & Quality Improvement Courses, Cultural Diversity, Arthur Anderson (Remanufacturing),Council of Logistic Management, and Warehousing Education Research.

He prepared himself to tackle Managerial responsibilities for General Electric, Black & Decker, Distribution Centers, Inc., Borden foods Inc., Greater Cleveland Ford Mercury, Turner Brothers Enterprises, Inc. and Racargo Transportation. LLC.

Roosevelt's work maintained our lifestyle; his family was his love and his focus. His legacy will continue through those left to be comforted.

After marrying Tyrie Gee Smith Turner, Roosevelt became the father to two children: Asparsa Monique (Dwayne) Gibson of Conroe TX; and Shawn LeSeborn Smith who preceded him in death.

Roosevelt is preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Beatrice Turner, His sister, Linda Turner, and his First wife, Corine Turner.

Roosevelt, beloved by six grandchildren, was affectionately referred to as 'Paw Paw' by Dnique Danielle Gibson and Jayla Tylean Gibson. He is survived by his sisters, Narvell Billups and Virgie Turner of Racine, WI, and Mary Ewing of Memphis, TN. He also leaves behind his brothers, Robert Turner and his wife Gloria of Racine, WI, Walter Turner of Jackson, MS, Carl Turner and his wife Alfreda of Kingwood, TX, Garry Turner and his wife Erika of Southern CA, and Dr. K. B. Turner of Southaven, MS.

"He was always ready to help. Whenever we heard of someone in need, he would ask, 'Can't we help them?' I would answer, 'Yes, we can.' He would reply, 'Let's help them,' and we would. He loved and supported all his nieces and nephews, who affectionately referred to him as Daddy Uncle.
