Rudy Lamaze
"Cleon" Ervin
August 7, 1970 – June 18, 2025
With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Rudy Cleon LaMaze Ervin, who departed this life on June 18, 2025, at the age of 54. Rudy was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, cherished brother, and dear friend to many.
Rudy was born on August 7, 1970, to the late Rosie Mae Ervin and Wilson Ervin. A man known for his strong work ethic, warm heart, and vibrant personality, Rudy lived life with purpose and passion. He found joy in simple pleasures—listening to gospel music, driving trucks, chatting with loved ones on the phone, and working on cars. But nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure.
Rudy leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. He is survived by his devoted wife, Evon Ervin, whom he loved dearly and stood beside through life's journey. He also leaves to cherish his memory his beloved son, Brandon Cattladge, stepchildren: Monika Wilkins, LaKeisha Williams, and TreMarcus Williams, 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Rudy's life was enriched by the bond he shared with his siblings: brothers, Mark Ervin, Anthony Ervin, Jerry Ervin, Jason (Kim) Ervin, Terris Ervin, and Marcus Ervin; sisters, Carolyn Ervin, Catherine (Samuel) Sanders, and Helen (Johnny) Coleman. He is also fondly remembered by his aunts, Martha (McArthur) Harris and Jewel Jones; uncles, Lynell (Bessie) Hallman, Charles Hallman, and Johnny Ray Hallman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, Rosie Mae and Wilson Ervin; his brother, Roosevelt Ervin; and his sisters, Shirria Ervin and Jackie Ervin.
Rudy's presence, laughter, and love will never be forgotten. Though he has left this earthly home, his spirit lives on in the lives of those who loved him.
