On September 29, 1957, Ruth Ann Patton was born to the union of Isham Patton and Lucille Morgan. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a former member of Miracle Temple COGIC, 15th Street COGIC, St. James Missionary Baptist Church and in 2023 joined Bible Way COGIC.
She graduated from Lee High School in 1975. She worked at different jobs throughout her lifetime, including Choctaw Medical Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Columbus Air Force Base as a housekeeper before becoming unable to work.
She married her husband Layvine Johnson Sr. in 1976 and was married for 30 years before his death in 2006.
She enjoyed life, her family, her children, grandchildren, and great grands. She also enjoyed sewing and eating some good fried chicken.
She leaves to cherish 3 children, Layvine Johnson of Flint, MI; Lamar (Tasha) Johnson & Clarence (Shay) Johnson of Columbus, MS; 2 step-children, Laquwonda Johnson of Flint, MI & Lavantae Johnson of Las Vegas, NV; 7 Grandkids, Kariania, Isaiah, Clarence Jr, Demonie, Mehki, Leon'Tae & Myracle and 6 stepgrands & 5 great-grandkids; 3 God-children, Anthony Sherrod of Kankakee, IL, Jackie McNeal of Newnan, GA and Cedric Gunter of Columbus, MS; She is the oldest of 15 siblings, Helen Fortt, Clarence Fortt Jr. and Cleo Fortt of Columbus MS, Katherine Frazier of Richmond, TX, John (Sabrina) Fortt of Sherman, TX, Patricia Williams of Starkville, MS, David Patton, Denise (David) Frazier, Dianne Patton all from Ackerman, MS, Calvin (Tracy) Barnes of Macon, MS & Carylon (Marcus) Ward of Arlington, VA; brother-in-law, Johnny (Ruth) Johnson & sister-in-law, Mattie (Jessie) Hutton both of Columbus, MS; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends that she loved with all her heart.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Fortt; father, Isham Patton, stepmother, Annie Patton, step-father, Clarence Fortt, husband, Layvine Johnson, sister, Lisa Fortt, brothers-in-law, Curtis Arthur & W.C. Johnson; mother-in-law, Carrie Johnson & father-in-law, W.C Johnson, Sr.; also a host of aunts, uncles & cousins.
