Sammie Lee Smith, affectionately known to family and friends as "Ralph," was born on July 17, 1962, in Monroe County, Mississippi, to Edna Smith and James White.

Sammie was a man of great creativity, patience, and imagination. One of his most memorable creations was a detailed minute house made entirely out of matsticks- a true reflection of his gifted hounds and artistic spirit. His quiet strength, caring heart, and playful humor brought light to every room he entered.

Sammie was called home to eternal rest on October 4, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, James White; his brother, Richard "Ricky" Smith of Columbus, MS and his sister, Kitty Mae.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory: his devoted mother, Edna Smith of Columbus, MS; his loving children, Tuneka Smith of Tennessee and Antonio Smith of Texas; three brothers, Willie (Brenda) Smith of Tupelo, MS, Jimmie Smith of Columbus, MS, and Steven Smith of Columbus, MS; and two sisters, Annie  (Jessie) Durrah of Columbus, MS, and Lori (Gregrey) Smith of Marietta, GA. Sammie also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Sammie's life was one of quiet strength and deep love for his family. Though his journey on earth has ended, his spirit will continue to live on in the laughter, memories, and hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He will be forever loved and deeply missed.
