Obituary

Samuel C. "Sammie" Bradley, of Columbus, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026. Born March 25, 1964, in Columbus to Joseph and Elizabeth Bradley, Samuel was a devoted son, a loving brother and uncle, and a steadfast friend whose quiet faith and kind actions left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Samuel grew up in Columbus, surrounded by a large and close-knit family. He learned the values of hard work, humility and care for others at an early age. Family gatherings, shared meals, and the rhythms of church and community shaped the man he became. He took great pride in his family and cherished the time spent with siblings, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

A graduate of New Hope High School class of 1982, Samuel later went on to work for Winn‑Dixie. He was a dependable employee, known for his steady work ethic and willingness to help where needed. Colleagues and customers alike remember Sammie for his friendly presence and calm assurance — the kind of person who made everyday tasks easier for those around him.

Samuel faith was central to his life. He was a lifelong member of the Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Cedar Bluff, Mississippi, where he faithfully served on the usher board. His ministry at the church was practical and heartfelt — greeting worshipers with a warm smile, tending to the needs of the congregation, and serving quietly behind the scenes. He also attended Christ Divine under the leadership of Bishop Timothy Heard, Sr., and was respected for his steady devotion and willingness to serve.

Samuel enjoyed simple pleasures that reflected his gentle spirit. He loved fishing — finding comfort and peace beside the water — and he delighted in watching television and movies in his spare time. He praised God with a sincere heart, and his faith informed the way he lived and cared for others.

Handy with his hands, Samuel worked on cars and took pride in keeping vehicles running smoothly for family and friends. He also freely offered his time to do yard work for his church and relatives, never asking for recognition. For many, his acts of service were the truest expression of his love: a repaired engine, a trimmed yard, a steady presence when someone needed help.

Those who knew Samuel remember him as a patient, steady presence — modest, dependable and always ready to help. He had a practical wisdom and a gentle sense of humor that put people at ease. Samuel's life was one of quiet witness: through acts of service, through faithful worship, and through his love for family. His memory will be cherished by those who felt his kindness, who share his laughter, and who were uplifted by his faith.

Preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Yvonne B. Henderson, and four brothers — Howard Bradley, Wilson Bradley, Joseph Bradley, Sr., and Pastor Barry Bradley

He is lovingly remembered and survived by his siblings: Helen (James) Jethroe of Warren, OH; John Bradley of Columbus, MS; Willie (Diane) Bradley of Cleveland, OH, Ossie Bradley of Indianapolis, IN, Elester (Ozella) Bradley of Warren, OH, Shirlean (Willie Mac) Johnson of Columbus, MS; Betty (Charles) Henry of Columbus, MS, Earnest (Brenda) Jones of Columbus, MS, Shirley Bush and Betty Hargrove of Columbus, MS. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will carry forward his memory.

Psalm 9:1  "I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works."
