Obituary

Sarah G. Dismukes-Williams, affectionately known as "Nean", was born on July 13, 1962 in Columbus, MS, to Lenton and Geneva Dismuke. in Columbus, Mississippi.  She transitioned to her heavenly reward on August 15, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS.

A devoted member of Zion Gate M.B. Church, Sarah contributed her time and energy to her community and found great fulfillment in her faith and service to others. Her vibrant personality and nurturing spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sarah dedicated 15 years of her career to the Community Counseling Service as a Kitchen Supervisor, where her passion for cooking and nurturing others shone brightly. She was also the proud owner and operator of Sandcastle Learning Center from 1996 to 2006, contributing significantly to early childhood education in the community. Earlier in her career, she served as an Assistant Teacher for the Lowndes County School District. A 1981 graduate of Caldwell High,  Sarah's commitment to education and support for children was evident throughout her professional journey.

In her personal life, Sarah shared her life with her beloved husband, Richard Williams. Together, they created a warm and loving home that fostered joy and connection. Sarah was known for her love of cooking, her spirit of fellowship, and her enthusiasm for sports, especially moments spent cheering on her grandsons.

Sarah is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Eddie James Dismuke, Robert Dismuke, Richard L. Dismuke, Willie Earl Dismuke, Tommie James Dismuke and Charlie L. Dismuke; her sister, Flora Ann Whitfield;  her grandparents, Flora Williamson and Martha and Will Dismuke; sisters- in-law, Teresa Dismuke and Mildred Dismukes.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Richard Williams; her two daughters, Kristie Selvie and Chiquita Smith both of Columbus, MS; her four grandchildren, Jordan Smith, Markia Dismuke, Marcus Selvie, Jr. and Khristain Selvie all of Columbus, MS; 1 great-grandchild, Kingston Brewer; her siblings, Hattie (Johnny) Richey of Columbus, MS, Lenton (Dean) Dismuke, Jr. and Houston Dismuke both of Columbus, MS, Jerry (Gale) Dismuke of Birmingham, AL, and Perry (Theresa) Dismuke of Albany, GA; her in-laws, Tim Williams, Charley Williams, James Williams, Terry Williams, Diane Williams, Derrick Williams, Iris McKay Dismuke, Hattie Will Dismuke, Kim Dismuke, Mary Dismuke and Celestina Dismuke. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
