Sheril M. Walker Richey Rice, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was born on June 4, 1964, in Columbus, Mississippi, to Raymond Capers and Emma Lou Troupe. She departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of strength, service, and unwavering faith.
A proud graduate of Caldwell High School, Class of 1982, Sheril went on to serve her country as a dedicated member of the United States Army Reserve. Her commitment to excellence continued as she earned her degree from Mississippi State University, embodying the values of discipline and hard work throughout her life.
For over a decade, Sheril was a devoted employee at PACCAR, where her colleagues admired her work ethic, sharp intellect, and genuine kindness. She approached every task with a sense of purpose and a heart full of compassion, making a lasting impact on those around her.
Sheril was a woman of many talents, but perhaps her greatest joy came from cooking. She had a unique ability to infuse love and care into every meal, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for family and friends alike. Her kitchen was a place of laughter, connection, and cherished memories.
Above all, Sheril was a woman of profound faith. Her belief in God was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through challenges and triumphs alike. She stood firmly on the power of prayer, inspiring those around her with her unwavering trust in divine providence.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Emma Lou Troupe, and her sister, Linda Walker.
Sheril's greatest pride and joy were her children: Randy Johnson, Brittany Walker-O'Neal (Gabriel), Leandrae Richey, and Jordan Miller. She was a devoted grandmother to Deasia Staples, Da'Miya Murray, Reginae Staples, Gabrielle O'Neal, Jakarri Williams, and Choyce Paris Díor Loper, who will forever carry her love in their hearts.
Sheril is survived by her sister, Yolanda Walker and brother, Dexter Walker, as well as her father, Raymond Lee Capers of Dunn, North Carolina, and siblings Raymond Lenard Capers, Yolanda Fadonn Capers, Sonya McDougal, Vincent Lamar Capers, and Dereck Leo Capers, all of New York City. Additionally, she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins who adored her deeply.
Sheril cherished her time spent with her loving aunts, Daisy Bobo and Ethel Wilkins, creating countless memories filled with laughter and joy.
Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering faith. Sheril poured herself into her family, served with integrity, and left an indelible mark on every life she touched. As we gather to honor her memory, we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace—fully restored and resting safely in the arms of the Lord. Though she is no longer with us in body, her light will forever shine in our hearts. Her love, strength, and faith will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
