Obituary

Sonia Arnice Holt was born September 28 th , 1965 in Columbus, MS to Lowreen Holt-Taylor and the late Alfred L. Taylor. She departed this life on December 24 th , 2022 at her mother's residence.

She was preceeded in death by her father Alfred L. Taylor, sister Detrice Calandra Taylor, and grandson Javian Holt.

Sonia accepted Christ at an early age. She was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School class of 1984 where she graduated with achievements. She started to work at a young age as a care-taker of the elderly. The love, wisdom, and dedication that grew inside of her she carried to her final days. As she loved and cared for the elderly, she also did this for the younger generations. Serving as a bus driver for the Columbus Municipal school district, she provided words of encouragement and support to the youth.

She was always willing and available to give a helping hand or offer her straight-forward/outspoken, yet loving advice to anyone willing to listen. Her most recent employment was a housekeeper at Heritage Inn.

She was the epitome of Family First. Her most important roles were being a mother, a grandmother, and a daughter. She enjoyed going to school functions in support of her children and grandchildren.

She loved to travel to visit family and find quality fashion pieces. When you saw her you would see her mom right by her side on family trips. Her most peaceful and frequent activity was reading her bible and continued growth with the Lord. Known to be the be the glue of the family. When her maternal grandmother passed away, she was the one who created and continued the family gatherings for the entire family to remain a part of each other's lives.

She leaves to cherish her memory a mother Lowreen Holt-Taylor of Columbus, MS; her children, Otavian Holt of Columbus, MS,  Tumetrist Holt of Columbus, MS, Guonshay Holt of Columbus, MS – TaVarcus Holt of Macon, MS, Etesia Holt of Starkville, MS; her siblings, Zachary (Tracy) Holt of St. Louis, IL – MS, Tutricia Holt-Lockett of Columbus, MS, Zaveria (Alma) Holt of Mesa, AZ and a special friend of over 25 years, Donnell Jones of Macon, MS; host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
