Travis “Lil Mac” McIntosh, a man whose presence brought steadiness, laughter, and unwavering love to all who knew him, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Mississippi.

Born on July 4, 1967, in Okolona, Mississippi, Travis was the cherished son of Artee (R.T.) McIntosh and Margie Bynum Hayden. He grew up in Wren, MS, where he learned the values of hard work, loyalty, and family principles that shaped the rest of his life. He joined New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where he received his spiritual covering and was officially baptized and called his church home.

A proud graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1985, where he was noted as an All-State Basketball player that helped the team make it to the State Basketball Tournament, which wasn’t surprising since both parents were exceptional players. Travis carried his school spirit and small town pride with him wherever he went and continued relationships with his beloved classmates. Travis was an outstanding athlete. In middle school, he dominated intramural sporting events, winning the 50-yard dash, the long jump, and the high jump in the same year. He also won the 600-yard run in back to back years, ensuring bragging rights for that event remained in Wren for the entirety of his middle school days. Baseball may have been his best sport. He was a standout performer for Wren’s “Happy Kids,” and his most memorable high school moment was in the first game he played. He hit two home runs in two at bats to lead Amory to victory over cross-county rival, Aberdeen.

Throughout his working years, Travis dedicated himself to several manufacturing companies: Alan White Upholstery Manufacturer, Lane Furniture, Columbus Steel, and most recently Columbus Brick Yard. He was known as a dependable, hardworking, and respected colleague. His commitment to his craft reflected the same quiet strength he brought to every part of his life resulting in being awarded a diploma in May 2017 from The Freeman Institute at Mississippi State University for his studies in the Manufacturing Supervisor Management Program.

To his family, Travis was the heart of the home. He found his greatest joy in the simple, sacred moments, gathering with loved ones, sharing stories, and creating memories that will live on for generations. His devotion to his family was deep and constant, a love that shaped the lives of all who were blessed to call him son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, and friend.

A passionate sports fan, Travis rarely missed a chance to cheer on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious, a reminder of his vibrant spirit and the joy he found in life’s celebrations. It was not uncommon for the four horsemen to spend time on the phone during the football and basketball seasons providing colorful commentary of the games. He also loved playing golf, horseshoes, and spades and he won many trophies over the years, especially during family reunions.

He leaves to honor and cherish his memory; his loving wife, Hope McIntosh of Columbus, MS; his devoted mother, Margie Hayden of Memphis, TN; his beloved children, Courtney McIntosh of Atlanta, GA; and Tangie Almo of Aberdeen, MS; stepson, Kristopher E. Meaders of Columbus, MS; his treasured grandchildren, Aubrey Rowe and Malachi Walker; his dear sisters; Sandra McClairen of Memphis, TN; Carol (Dennis) Jones of Rex, GA; Dr. Candice (Jarvis) Jackson of Ellenwood, GA; uncle, Peirce (Gloria) McIntosh; and aunts; Adrian (Coleman) Haynes; Jimmia Bynum; Elsie Bynum; Brenda Bynum; and Carolyn Bynum; and a host of nieces; nephews; extended families; and countless cousins and friends whose lives he touched with kindness and sincerity.

Travis was preceded in death by his father, R.T. McIntosh.

Travis “Lil Mac” McIntosh lived a life defined by generosity, humility, and love. His warmth, his laughter, and his steady presence will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
