Troy Washington, 69, of Macon, Mississippi, passed away on January 5, 2026, at his home.
He was born on March 27, 1956, in Macon, Mississippi, to Rena Mae Washington and Booker T. Washington. Troy graduated from high school in Macon before relocating to Chicago, Illinois, where he spent many years building his career. While in Chicago, he was a skilled engineer known for his ability to fix almost anything. He was a Boiler Engineer for Chicago Housing Authority (CHA), earning a reputation for his strong work ethic and technical knowledge. Upon retirement, Troy returned to his hometown of Macon, Mississippi.
Troy was a kind-hearted and loving father who will be remembered for encouraging those around him to live life fully and enjoy each day. He found great joy in fishing and watching western television shows.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Booker T. Washington Jr. and Lorenzo Washington, and his sister, Pearlie Yeargain.
Troy is survived by his children, Troy Washington and Tracy Tucker; his siblings, Leroy Washington (Valerie), Virginia White (Gregory), Kent Washington (Angela), and Alexander Washington; his aunts, Daisy Lockett and Lillie Harris; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Troy's life reflected his belief in loving others and finding joy in each day God gives. His kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched, as he now rests in the eternal peace and promise of God.
