Obituary

Tyrone Hamilton, affectionately known as "Big Ty" was born on March 23, 1972, in Aberdeen, Mississippi, to Willie Queen Calloway and James C. McDonald. He departed this life on December 18, 2025, at Park Manor in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, at the age of 53.

Tyrone's early years were spent in Columbus, Mississippi, where he forged lasting friendships and created memories with family. He later moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he built a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Latonji—whom he fondly called "Pretty." Their marriage of 18 years was a testament to deep love, mutual respect, and unwavering partnership.

A man of many interests, Tyrone found joy in golf, football, and fishing. He had a special passion for riding motorcycles and admiring muscle cars, always appreciating the thrill and freedom these brought him. Above all, Tyrone cherished his family and grandchildren, holding them close to his heart and making each moment spent together truly meaningful.

Tyrone's faith was established early in life as he confessed his hope in Christ at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. In his younger years, he sang in the church choir, his voice was a contribution to the worship and fellowship of his community. Tyrone also shared his love for sports, playing football at Caledonia High School. A proud and devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, he rarely missed a game and enjoyed cheering on his favorite team.

With a strong work ethic, Tyrone devoted 25 years to a career as a truck driver with WTI Trucking. The open road suited his adventurous spirit, and in later years, he enjoyed being a local driver. Tyrone known as "Step-Dadddy" , especially liked talking on the radio with fellow drivers and friends, always ready to share a story or a laugh.

Tyrone is preceded in death by his father; his brother, James McDonald, Jr; his grandparents, Christine and Willie James Hamilton; his uncle, Robert Hamiton and three cousins, Malissa Hamilton, Kayline Hamilton, Jr. and Kareem Hamilton.

Tyrone Hamilton will be lovingly remembered for his generous spirit, love of life by his wife, Latonji Hamilton of Tuscaloosa, AL; his children, Javon (Cynthia) Hamilton of Columbus, GA and Edward (Courtney) Miller of Tuscaloosa, AL; his mother, Willie Queen (Derrick) Calloway of Columbus, MS; his siblings, John Edward Cross, Christopher Cross both of Columbus, MS and Tracy McDonald of Chicago, IL; stepmother, Francis McDonald; one step-sister, Tash; 4 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
