Mr. Virgil Wells, Sr. was born September 21, 1932 to the late
Peter Wells Sr. and Lula Wells. He confessed hope in Christ at
an early age at Second James Creek M.B. Church.
He later joined Millers Chapel M. B. Church, where Rev. Nathaniel D. Houston, Sr. is Pastor.

Mr. Wells served as a Faithful Deacon and a Lead Singer in the
Male Choir until his health started to fail. He also was a long
time member of the well known following groups: Christian
Harmonizers and The Rising Stars. He retired from Ceco Steel.
Mr. Virgil transitioned at 8:35 am on Wednesday, July 3, 2024
at his residence. He is preceded in death by his Parents, his
lovely wife: Johnnie Mae Wells, one son: Virgil Wells, Jr., one
grandson: Diqualo Williams, one great-grand son, Landen
Corbin, four brothers: his twin brother, Vivian Wells, Sr., Issac
Sr., Roosevelt Sr., and Peter Wells, Jr. four sisters: Hattie Pearl
Walker, Annie Lee Patton, Sara Wells and Ruthie Lee Tate.
He leaves to cherish three daughters: Sandra(Theodis) Rice,
Mary Williams Both of Macon, MS. Gloria Hopkins of Carthage,
MS., one son: Derrick(Danielle) Wells of Memphis, TN. And one
God-daughter: Martha Turner of Macon, MS. Mr. Wells also
raised three grandchildren as his own: Tobeario Hopkins,
Angelicia Shanklin and Steven Wells. He has eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

His Lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful
servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make
thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.
