William Thomas Hopkins, Sr. was born November 20, 1956 in Crawford, MS to Margaret Smith and Albert Hopkins. He transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly reward on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
William was a 1978 graduate of Motley High School in Columbus, MS. He dedicated his life to God and became a member of Charity Mission Full Gospel Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his death. He was a very diligent and hard worker that was employed at various companies which included General Tire in Columbus, MS, Howard Furniture in Starkville, MS and Tronox in Hamilton, MS where he retired after twenty plus years. William was a family man that enjoyed life to the fullest. His pastime hobbies were fishing, hunting, and grilling.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Patricia Clark on January 15, 1980, and to this union two sons were born, Deondrey and William Hopkins, Jr.
William was preceded in death by his father, Albert Hopkins; grandparents: James & Lover Vaughn Hairston and Mr. & Mrs. Homer Hopkins; sister, Deborah Hairston; son, Deondrey Hopkins.
He leaves to cherish his many memories: his devoted wife, Patricia Hopkins of Crawford, MS; his son, William Hopkins, Jr. of Dallas, TX; his grandchildren, Deondrey Hopkins, Jr., Kaci L. Hopkins, Kori Fields, and K.J. Fields all of Columbus, MS; his mother, Margaret Smith of Memphis, TN, his sister, Delores Banks and brother, Marlowe Smith both of Memphis, TN; two uncles, James (Lecreshia) Hairston and Jimmy (Nina) Hairston of St. Louis, MO; two aunts, Harriet (N.F.) O'Neal of St. Louis, MO and Bernice Watson of Memphis, TN; his daughter-in-law, Sonya Hopkins; sisters and brothers-in-law: Irma (Willie) Thompson, Cherry Lang, Mary (Rudy) Prowell, Estella Clark, Kizzie Carter, Gloria (Howard) Smart, Janie (Johnny) Harris, Earnest (Wilma) Brown, Willie (Kimberly) Clark, Dan (Patricia) Clark, Woodrow (Latossia) Clark, Tannie Blackmon and Michael Blackmon. William also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
