Obituary

William Henry Jones was born in Columbus, MS to the late William Henry Sr. and Mary Louise Jones. He accepted Christ as his Lord and savior at an early age and became a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He remained a faithful member throughout his life, serving on the Trustee Board and the Male Chorus. William, known as "Nerve" attended school and graduated from R.E. Hunt High School in 1968. He furthered his education at Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS. He enlisted in the United States Army where he served in Germany.

William departed this life on January 18, 2025, in Columbus, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Louise and William Henry Jones; his brothers, Vincent L. Jones, Raeburn Jones, and Bobby Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife of 25 years, Jewel Dean Hallman Jones; his children, Chaundra (Donald) Steele of Birmingham, AL and Christopher (Tawanda) Jones of Norfolk, VA; two sisters, Betty (Paul) Vonsee and Tonya Turner both of Columbus, MS; one brother, Michael (Cynthia) Jones of Atlanta, GA; three brothers-in-law, Lawnell (Bessie) Hallman, Johnny Hallman, and Charles Hallman; one sister-in-law, Martha (McArthur) Harris; six grandchildren, Reginald E. Parks, Lamonte C. Jones, Latron V. Jones, Zamion K. Jones, Zoe L. Jones, and Ashley Steele; two great-grandchildren, Jalil Parks and Jalen Parks; and a host of other relatives and friends.
