Willie Eugene Pounds was born in Millport, AL on December 17, 1956, to Jesse Tom Pounds and Willie T. Greenlee Pounds. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of the Tabernacle C.M.E. Church. He served as the Chairman of Steward Board and Trustee. He was an active member of the church, often leading devotion. He attended schools in Caledonia where he later received his high school diploma in 1976.

Willie began his employment with Brookshire Milk Company where he was employed for several years. He would later employ with the Lowndes County School District as a mechanic with the bus shop where he served for 28 years until retirement in 2002. After retirement, he spent his days farming, something he loved to do. He also enjoyed singing.

Willie departed this life on August 22, 2023, in Columbus, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jessie Will Pounds.

Willie leaves to cherish his memories: his siblings: Shirley Pounds of Detroit, MI, Jerlene (Lucious) Pounds, Johnny (Eloise) Pounds and Dock (Cynthia) Pounds of Steens, MS, Lola (Marcell) Daniels Smith of Columbus, MS, and Dr. LaMaris "Spider" (Julia) Mays of Milwaukee, WI; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
