Obituary

Rev. Willie Lee Richard, born on December 17, 1941, in Columbus, Mississippi, to Dick and Julia Richard. He spent his life in Columbus, where he was known not only for his professional work but also for his deep commitment to his community and faith.

Willie had a successful career as a forklift driver at Allied Manufacturing, where he was respected by his colleagues for his dedication and work ethic. He was also a former pastor of St. James M.B. Church, a position that allowed him to touch the lives of many in his community. His spiritual leadership and guidance were invaluable to those who knew him.

For 16 wonderful years, he was married to Santia Richard, with whom he shared a life filled with love and companionship. Willie was known for his warm personality and joyful spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a smile.

An avid fan of westerns, he found joy in simple pleasures, such as walking at the Lock and Dam and visiting Six Flags during trips to Georgia. His love for adventure and the outdoors reflected his zest for life and appreciation of the world around him.

As a member of Stephen Chapel M.B. Church, Willie remained active in his faith community, participating in various church activities and events. He will be remembered fondly by family, friends, and the many lives he impacted throughout his journey.

On February 7, 2025, God called Willie from his labor to his Heavenly reward. Willie is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Frances Richard, Mary Taylor, Ethel Colister, Gladys Colister, Frank Richard and Otis Richard.

Willie leaves to cherish his memories to his wife, Santia Richard; his children, Tony (Betty) Craddieth, Sylvester (Angie) Craddieth, Darryl (Sharon) Craddieth, Paula (Darin) Hill all of Columbus, MS and Barbara Craddieth Russell of Douglasville, GA; his siblings, Peggy Ann Jones of Shaw, MS and Willie James Richard of Columbus, MS; 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
