Obituary

Alma "Soookie" Reed was born to William Jamison and Mattie D. Scott on May 8, 1957 in Columbus, MS. After graduating from Lee High School in 1976, Sookie went on to college at Mary Holmes in West Point. Shortly after, she returned and began her career in culinary arts as she loved to cook for her family and friends. Sookie was a familiar face in the Wal-Mart deli as many customers knew her by name because of her loving spirit and personality. Sookie went on to retire from the deli at Wal-Mart.

Sookie married Urie L. "Reed" Reed on May 30, 1980, and they remained married for 30 years until Reed went on to be with the Lord.

Sookie was a faithful member of United Christian Baptist Church where she served as an usher in her younger years.

In her spare time Sookie enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She also showed her love by cooking as she never met a stranger and loved to cook. Sookie will be remembered for her big heart, loving personality, and her humor.

Sookie gained her wings on Monday, December 19, 2022. She will most definitely be missed.

Sookie was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie D.; two brothers, Adolf Jamison and Herman (Trouble) Scott and her husband, Urie L. Reed.

Sookie is survived by her children: Abrillya Scott-Porter of Columbus, MS, Lamar Reed of Upper Marlboro, MD, NiKosha Reed-Langford (Quincy) of Columbus, MS and LaShonda Saddler, of Killeen, TX; siblings: Annie Ross Bell, Eddy Lee Scott (Rhonda), Willie Scott (Debra), Tommy Scott, Eddie Scott all of Columbus, Jessiewill Colvin of Jacksonville, FL, and RL (Stephanie) of Dallas, TX; grandchildren: Darion Mosley, Carissa Reed, Eurie (Lauryn) Reed, Aubree Reed, Kyndal Langford, Owen Donald, Marco Saddler, Tre'lon Saddler and Kenslee Reed; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
