Obituary

Barrington Warren Powell was born April 21, 1948 in Four Paths, Clarendon, Jamaica.  He was the oldest of 5 children for Lynette and Wilfred Powell.  Barrington, affectionately called Barry, confessed Christ at an early age at the Open Bible Church in May Pen, Jamaica. He attended Cross Primary and May Pen primary schools, and later attended Chestervale youth camp where he learned to drive & fix cars.  He migrated to the USA in 2004, and worked in maintenance at Northern Industries, and then later as a security guard.  In 2009, Barry was wed to Maxine Ferguson in Chicago, Illinois.

After living in Chicago, Barry moved to Mississippi to be close to his sister, Ylodia "Pam" Smith, who he has always been close to since childhood.  He loved to dance, listen to reggae music, and spend time with his family.

He transitioned on November 15, 2022, and was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maxine, his mother and father, and his baby sister Arlene Reid.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his sisters, Ancelia Walker (Garth), Clare Campbell and Ylodia Smith (Rory); brothers, Charles Powell (Colleen) and Lance Powell; devoted niece, Mary Taylor, grand-niece, Sierra "CeCe" Taylor; nephew, Andrew Morrison (Rutsy); and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.

Sleep well Mast Barr.  We love you but God loves you best.
