Beatrice Dunlap
Harris
October 19, 1966 – February 6, 2024
Beatrice, affectionately known as "Molly" or "Bea" was born the youngest of her 3 siblings, Edward, Portia and Corline. Beatrice was born on October 19, 1966, and was blessed to be born to the late Willie M. and Catherine Dunlap. They raised her in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
Beatrice confessed her hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age at Second Mt. Vernon M.B. Church, under the leadership of Rev. R. H. Patton. Beatrice's love for the things of God was cultivated at Second Mt. Vernon. She was very active in the choirs, Sunday School, Jr. Usher Board, BTU and VBS. She truly blessed the people of God when she would sing "My Liberty" and "It's My Desire". She will forever be considered a cherished daughter of Second Mt. Vernon.
Beatrice matriculated through the Chicago Public School System. In 1992, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Administration. She received her degree from Chicago State University. Beatrice loved being independent. To obtain a level of independence, Beatrice began working as a high schooler until her health began to decline. She worked at Sears, Marquette Bank and the Chicago Police Department.
Beatrice met her love, Louis Harris, and they were married on December 31, 1994. Their love for each other produced their bouncing baby boy, Timothy. Louis preceded Beatrice in death. Beatrice's love for Louis was manifested in how she loved and cared for Timothy.
Beatrice's spiritual journey continued as she became a member of Prayer Tower Fellowship Church. Under this ministry Beatrice grew spiritually and developed a deeper walk with God. She later joined King of Glory COGIC in Chicago, IL. She continued her Christian walk after moving to Mississippi by becoming a member of Kingdom Vision International Church in Columbus, MS.
When the clarion call was made by her father that he needed her, Beatrice left Chicago and made her way to Mississippi to be closer so she could help care for him. That is who Beatrice was, where there was a need, she showed up. She helped care for her stepmother, father and sister until their transition. Beatrice cared for others until God received her to her eternal home on February 6, 2024.
Beatrice was also preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Portia and Corline.
She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved son, Timothy Harris; her brother, Edward (Pam) Dunlap of Gaston, SC; three nieces, Latasha Bell, Latoya Bell-King and Katherine Dunlap, her great nephews and niece, Willie, Ny'Ana, West and Wade; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, countless loved ones, and friends. Her long-time friends, Angela Edwards and Monica Wesley will forever cherish their 50-plus years of hysterically fun times.
