Holding fast to the memorable legacy of Mrs. Bettie "Lou" Clay-Lane.
Bettie Clay- Lane, affectionally known as "Bett", was born February 23, 1945, to the late Eddie and Priscilla Moore-Clay. She confessed Christ at an early age at Baldwin United Methodist Church. She later joined Mt. Ary M.B. Church, where she was a member until her death.
Bett was united in holy matrimony to the late Gussie "Pop" Lane, Sr. They were blessed with ten children, three of whom preceded her in death.
Bettie Clay-Lane dedicated her life as a homemaker. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking, quilting, and watching her daytime soap operas "stories". In August 2017, her health began to fail, and she was admitted into the Noxubee County Nursing Home where she resided until her death.
Bettie Clay-Lane transitioned peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 1:00 A.M. at Noxubee County Nursing Home in Macon, MS.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie & Priscilla Clay; husband, Gussie Lane, Sr.; three daughters, Willie Mae Koger, Patricia Ann Lane, Linda Lane-Edmond; two sisters, three brothers, one brother-in-law, one son-in-law, and five grandchildren.
Bettie Clay-Lane is survived by three daughters, Nancy Ashford, Sky (Carlton) McCreery, Priscilla Lane; five sons, Willie J., Gussie, Jr. (Laurie), James (Jessie Mae), Johnnie, and Bruce Lane; four siblings, Ruby Lane, Helen Clay, James (Queen) Clay, Dian (Robert) Stewart; two sisters-in-law, Patricia (Vernon) Davis and Brenda Pigues; two brothers-in-law, Larry (Debra) Pigues and Bruce Pigues; twenty-eight grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sons-in-law, Robert Koger and Michael Edmond; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
