Sister Betty Jean Flood Logan was born on September 13, 1950, in Lowndes County, MS to the late Rev. James Daniel Flood Sr. and Sadie Thomas Flood. She departed this life on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the age of 72.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Piney Grove Church and later Brownlee United Methodist Church where she served as secretary, Sunday school teacher and a choir member. Sister Betty attended Anderson Grove and R.E. Hunt High School. She worked at Columbus hospital and later at McCoy manufactory, where she retired. Sister Betty was very passionate about her family, community and church.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Earnest Ray Logan and to this union four children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Sadie Flood, three brothers: James Henry Flood, Jarriet B. Flood and McCoy Flood Sr., four sisters Betty Riley, Robbie Lowe, Dorothy Lowe, and Sadie Bostick.
Her beautiful life will be forever cherished by her husband Earnest Ray Logan. four children; E. Rene' Pruitt (George) of Caledonia, MS, Ernest D. Logan (Janice) of Columbus, MS, Edward D. Logan (Tyronica) of Tupelo, MS; eight grandchildren; Darren Armstrong, Christopher Armstrong, Carrie Logan, Amanda Pruitt, Darian Logan, Amanda Pruitt, George Pruitt, Jr. and Romello Bowers; one sister Dorothy M. Leonard (Frank), one brother James D. Flood, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She had a heart as big as her beautiful smile. She met no strangers and loved everyone. Her mission was to help people and show them the love of Christ. When I think about the song "Let Your Light Shine", she did exactly that. Her personality was bubbly and infectious. She touched everyone she met. She was a person who spoke the truth and didn't sugarcoat anything. She wasn't afraid to fight for what is right. She was bold, courageous, and stronger than anyone we knew. She was family oriented, and she truly loved the Lord.
