Obituary

Bobby Earl Harvill, departed his loving family on February 19, 2023 at Baptist Memorial.

Bobby was born September 18, 1952, in Maplesville, Alabama to Robert Harvill and Rosie Lee Jones.  He graduated from the American Preparatory Institute in Killeen, Texas in 1977. Bobby joined the United States Army in 1979. He served for a total of 5 years. During his time of service, he received the following accolades: an Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Occupational Medal, two NCO Professional Development Medals, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and two Good Conduct Medals. When Bobby joined the Army, he worked as an Indirect Fire Infantry Man and later reclassified to an Administrative Specialist. Bobby also worked from 1984 to 2017, at Industrial Fabricators where he was a Foreman.

Bobby professed his life to Christ and joined Fourth Street M.B.C., under the leadership of Pastor Jimmy Rice. He was a faithful servant. At Fourth Street, he served on the Deacon Board and sung in the male choir. He also served whenever he was called upon.

Bobby loved to spend time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, and to travel. He played a vital roll in raising his older two grandchildren. He also liked to attend the race track with his best friend Harvey Hill.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Subrena Harvill, three brothers Johnny Lee Jones, Lee Daniel Jones, and Robert Jones.

He is survived by his children: Michelle Strong of Reform Alabama; Cassandra (Danny) Howard, Sharonica Washington, Roshawn Burton, Broderick Burton, Rhodesia Burton, Tacarra Burton, Tameka Hamler, Frank (Tiffany) Hamler Jr. all of Columbus, Mississippi; LaKiva Burton Dawson of Northport, AL.; three honorary children, Georgeanna Harvill, Jack (Treva) Baker and Ron Carr of Columbus, MS; six sisters, Joyce (Larry) Pruitt and Sherry (Herman) Moore of Ethesville, AL; Pearlene Sherrod, Overa Martin, Shirley Ferguson and Doris Jones all of Columbus, Ms; and one brother, Edward Charles Jones of Jackson, MS; two sisters-in-law, Charlene (Roosevelt) Jackson of Northport, AL and Jessica Burton of Atlanta, GA; and two brothers-in-law, James Windham Jr of Reform, AL, and Jeffery (Tangie) Windham of Tuscaloosa, AL; 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
