"Slide" Alexander, Sr.

Bobby L. Alexander Sr. was born on May 10, 1939 to the late Jesse Alexander and Annie Pearl Nelson Alexander Salter. Bobby departed this world on November 1, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Bobby was united in Holy Matrimony to Dorothy Sue Sykes in 1960.
Bobby also known as "Slide" and "Brother" was a hard worker all his life. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and looked forward to visits from his children and grandchildren. He had a favorite place to eat and every Saturday and Sunday morning he could be found at "The Huddle House".
Bobby was employed by Dobbs Trucking of Hamilton, MS and worked as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed his work and worked until a few months before his death.
Bobby loved his siblings and spoke of them often. If you knew Bobby, he was never one to just lay around the house. He was an outdoorsman and a friend to many.
Bobby was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Sue Sykes-Alexander; his parents: Jesse Alexander and Annie Pearl Alexander-Salter; brothers: James Alexander and Willie Salter; sister: Rosa Salter Miller; son: Elder Robert Sykes and granddaughter: Angela House Hughes.
Bobby leaves to cherish his memory, five daughters: Leslie Helm of Memphis, TN, Marian Gates, Betty Watkins, and Annie Standifer (Mike) all of Columbus, MS, Barbara K. Alexander of Ridgeland, MS; 3 sons: Bobby Alexander (Terry) of Stafford, VA, Shawn Alexander (Anu) of Carson, CA and Ricky Baker (Pennie) of Steens, MS; four sisters: Jessie Mae Orr of Columbus, MS, Earnestine Hendrix of Chicago Heights, IL, Dorothy Sue Barry of Joliet, IL and Mary Ivy (Silas) of Steens, MS; two brothers: Jimmie Alexander of Chicago Heights, IL and James Griffin of Chicago, IL; two brother-in-law: Sammie Truelove of Columbus, MS and Moses Truelove Jr. (Jean) of Columbus, GA; daughter-in-law: Beryl Sykes of Hineston, LA; 27 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
