Obituary

Today we honor and celebrate the beautiful life of Brenda Harris Sherrod , fondly known as (Shot). She was born on December 12, 1960, to Geraldine and Lonzie Sanders. She departed her life on May 11, 2026, at Baptist Hospital. She accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of Pleasant Ridge House of Worship. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, church member, and dedicated servant of God.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine and Lonzie Sanders, and Mother-in-law Rebecca Blevins.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband David Lee Sherrod. Five sons-Reginald Harris, Eltoro Harris, Germar Harris, Terrance Harris and Brandon Donya Sherrod. All of Columbus, Ms. She also leaves to cherish four sisters, Gloria (Arthur) Conner, Pamela (Perry) Sparks, Jacqueline (Cornelius) Harris, Diane Sanders. All of Columbus, Ms. and one brother Lonzie (Teresa)Sanders, of Starkville, Ms. She also leaves to cherish 11 grandchildren, and five Great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

For 43 years, Brenda faithfully served at First Baptist Church. She did not simply work there; she ministered through her service. With humility, dedication, and love, she cared for God’s house with the heart of a servant. Many saw the floors she cleaned, but heaven saw the faithfulness, prayers, kindness, and quiet strength she carried each day.

Brenda was the true definition of a faithful servant. She never sought recognition or praise, because her joy came from serving others and serving the Lord. Through every season of life, she remained committed to her family, her church, and her faith.

Brenda also believed in enjoying the simple things in life. One thing she truly loved was getting her nails done. It may seem small to some, but it was one of the things that made her smile and feel special. Even while spending her life serving others, Brenda still carried herself with grace, beauty, and pride. Her polished nails were a reflection of the beautiful woman she was, strong, caring, classy, and full of love.

She had a gentle presence that brought comfort to those around her. She could brighten a room with her smile, encourage others with her words, and inspire many by the way she lived her life. Her hands worked faithfully on earth, but now they rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we rejoice knowing that Brenda’s earthly labor is complete. The servant who worked faithfully for so many years has now received her heavenly promotion. No longer cleaning the halls of the church, she now walks the streets of glory.

Well done, thy good and faithful servant.

Brenda Harris Sherrod’s life was a testimony of love, humility, faithfulness, and service. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She may be absent from our sight, but she will never be absent from our hearts.
