Obituary

Candace Tamar Brooks entered this life on October 24, 1994, to Jerrie Lewis and Mildred Brooks. She was raised in Columbus attending the Columbus City Schools. While in high school, she was a member of the Beta Club, Honor Society, Color Guard(Captain). She took great pride in excelling in all areas of her education. She completed her education in 2013 at Columbus High School. After high school, she attended the University of Alabama and later transferred to Mississippi University for Women. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology in 2018. She furthered her studies, completing her master's degree in 2023 in mental health counseling. Candace began her work career with Vanderbilt Mental Health as a mental health advocate. She was later employed with Cigna Health.

Candace confessed her faith for Christ as a child. Her love for Christ was passionate and exemplified in her everyday life. She was a lifelong member of Full Gospel Ministries under the leadership of her grandmother, Apostle Maxine Hall. She served as an armor bearer and was a worship dance leader.

Candace was a ball of joy for all whom she crossed paths. She enjoyed reading and writing in her spare time, as well as shopping. Her greatest past times were with family and friends, especially her sister/best friend.

Candace transitioned to earthly life on August 14, 2023. She is preceded in death by her grandparents: Earl and Ethel Brooks; great-grandparents: James and Beatrice Moore and Silas and Regina Dixon

Candace's love and memories will forever be cherished by: her parents:  Jerrie and Mildred Brooks of Columbus, MS; her siblings: Khamaya(Shawn)Brooks of Metarie, LA and Quatarious Sherrod of Artesia, MS ; her grandparents: Clarence and Pat Jethrow of Cleveland, OH and Apostle Maxine Hall of Columbus, MS; her god-brother, Taquavious Butler of Columbus, MS; one niece, Kendall Jones; a special friend, Juvante Cheeks-Williams; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends.
