Charlie W. Hairston was born in Crawford, MS to the parents: Roosevelt "Sam" Hairston and Lucy Mae Harris on December 2, 1943. Charlie grew up and lived in Mississippi until the age of 20, where he relocated to Bridgeport, CT. Charlie worked as a machine operator for 18 years at the Prudocto Machine Shop. He relocated back to Mississippi in 2013.

Charlie enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and trucks in his spare time. He was member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness while in Connecticut and Mississippi. He was a hard working man who enjoyed the simple things of life. He always traveled between states to make sure he saw his family.

Charlie departed this life on March 23, 2024 in Starkville, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Willie Louis Hairston; and step-mother, Annie L. Hairston.

He leaves to cherish his memories: Roosevelt "Pete"(Carla)Hairston of West Haven, CT; step-sister, Asaleah Harris; special niece, Felice Martin; his nieces: Chanel Hairston, Brittany Black, and Kenisha Screen; his nephews: Denzel Hairston, Kelvin Bolden, and Marshall Porter; his great-niece, Abigail Black; his great-nephews: Malachi and Matthew Screen; a close cousin, "Sister"; and other relatives and friends.
