Charlie "Funk" Wilkins, who left us on July 26, 2025 was born on June 3, 1972, in Columbus, Mississippi, Charlie was a beloved son to Robert and Mattie Wilkins and a cherished member of the community.

Charlie, affectionately known as "Funk," was a vibrant spirit who brought joy to everyone around him. He attended Columbus City Schools, completing his education at Lee High School, where he developed a passion for sports that would stay with him throughout his life. His love for athletics was matched only by his dedication to his family and friends, with whom he shared countless memorable moments.

A devoted member of St. James M.B. Church, Charlie found strength and solace in his faith, which guided him through life's challenges. He was known for his warm smile, infectious laughter, and the ability to uplift those around him. Whether it was cheering on his favorite teams or spending quality time with loved ones, Charlie's zest for life was evident in everything he did.

In his professional life, Charlie worked as a laborer in furniture manufacturing, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. His contributions to the workplace were valued, and he formed lasting friendships with his colleagues.

Charlie leaves behind a legacy of love, his parents, Robert and Mattie Wilkins; his children, Jatarvious Wilkins, Shiderian Wilkins, Shakendra Wilkins, Rashad Wilkins and Jacorey Wilkins; his siblings, Timothy and Felicia Wilkins; his grand- children, Dekobe Jones, Mason Hill, Jatylan Wilkins and Makai Wilkins; his nieces, Brittany Michelle Wilkins, Ashley Nicole Wilkins and Taylor Mattison Wilkins-Bowser; his great nephew, Kayden Allison; and a host of other relatives and friends.
