On June 21, 1961, Sister Clara Brooks was born to the late Walter Lee Brooks, Sr. and Arie Jones Brooks in Columbus, MS. She departed this life on Friday March 10, 2023.
Sister Clara Lue Brooks was the heart of the Brooks family. Born with a slight hearing and speech disabilities, in her early years of life, she was restricted in some of her activities. But as time passed, she displayed exceptional skills in adjusting to life. It was soon recognized by her family and friends that she was a smart person. Her favorite pastime was nurturing her nephews, nieces, and other children she came in contact with. It was almost like she had a "sixth sense" for children. She loved her family. Unlike, her siblings Clara never moved away from her mother. Her life was devoted to the well-being of her mother. During her failing health, she never complained. One of her favorite sayings was "I'm fine", even in her final days.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and sister, Katherine Hawkins.
Loving memories of Sister Clara Lue Brooks will be cherished by: her brothers, Leroy (Shirlet) Brooks, Walter (Ruby) Lee Brooks, Jr., sisters, Dorothy L. Brooks and Gloria Brooks Moulterie all of Columbus, MS; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
