Sis. Doris Williams was born April 15, 1938 in West Point, MS to Charlie Young, Jr. and Alma Jurdine Young. Doris was born and raised in the city of West Point, MS. As a child, she received her education from Fifth Street School and Mary Holmes School. Doris accepted Christ as her personal savior at a very young age and was baptized at Pleasant Grove Pools M.B. Church. She loved her church dearly, remaining a faithful lifetime member.
Doris was a true woman of character and faith. She loved her pastor and church, enjoyed reading her bible, and listening to gospel music. She was known for having a great conversation with family and friends whenever you spoke with her or saw her out. Her favorite past times included gardening, shopping, and watching the news. She was employed for a number of years with several businesses including: Maxxim Medical, Tupperware, and Fashion Barn.
Doris transitioned from earthly life to heavenly life on March 23, 2023. She preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter L. Williams, Sr.; her brothers, Adell Young and Branch Young; and her sister, Louise Ivy.
Doris's memories will forever be cherished by her children: Alma F. (Larry) Dixon of Hinesville, GA, Yvonne (Arthur) Morgan of Columbus, MS, Joe L. Williams of Columbus, MS, and Walter L. (Fran) Williams, Jr. of Florissant, MO; her sisters, Ida Mae Coleman of Columbus, MS and Everlean Young of West Point, MS; her sister-in-law, Laura Fenton of Columbus, MS; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
