Obituary

Earnestine Turner, the "baby sister" of the family was born March 25, 1964 to George Turner Sr. and Maxie B. Samuels-Turner in Columbus, MS. Even as a child, Earnestine was known for her outgoing personality and adventurous spirit. She confessed hope in Christ at a young age and was baptized and united with St. James Missionary Baptist Church.

Earnestine attended Hughes Elementary and Stephen D. Lee High School where she was a member of the Track & Field team and  the graduating class of 1982.

After being employed for several years in Columbus, Mississippi, she later relocated to Houston, TX. Earnestine truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. Her greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchild and her family. On the weekends, she would spend hours via conference calls with her mother, her "little" brother, Bernard (as she often referred to him) and her sister, Ethel. Earnestine was a strong person who loved the Lord and possessed a loving and caring spirit that was evident in the manner in which she conducted her life. She enjoyed shopping,  family gatherings, watching the Dallas Cowboys as well as helping others, a trait she inherited from her parents.

On May 2, 2023, after a lengthy illness, Earnestine or "Stine" as she was affectionately known was called home to rest.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxie B. Samuels-Turner, brothers, Willie George Turner, Sylvester Turner, Leonard Bernard Turner; sister-in-law, Stephanie Jones-Turner; brother-in-law, Lonnie James Morris and grandparents, Tom (Lucy) Turner, Sallie (West) Malone and Dave (Annie Lou) Samuels.

She is survived by two sons, Jeremy (Kelly) Turner of Columbus, MS and Jordan Turner of Houston, TX; grandchild, Khloe Butler of Columbus, MS, father, George Turner Sr. of Columbus, MS; siblings, Marie Smith of Clewiston, FL, John Henry (Eddie Mae) Shields of Harvey, IL, George (Sarah) Turner Jr. of Columbus, MS, Larrie (Ophelia) Turner of Tupelo, MS; David (Annie Pearl) Turner of Columbus, MS; Ethel Turner-Morris of Phoenix, AZ;   and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
