Elbert C. Bowser, Senior Master Sergeant, U. S. Air Force, Retired, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated veteran, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 17, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on June 10, 1950, in Vidalia, Louisiana, Elbert was the cherished son of Dan Mays, Jr. and Mercedes Taylor.
Elbert's journey through life was marked by his unwavering commitment to service and family. After completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country for 20 years. His dedication and discipline during his military career earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and superiors alike. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Elbert continued to contribute to his community as a supervisor at Sanderson Plumbing for two decades, showcasing his strong work ethic and leadership skills.
On July 7, 1973, Elbert met the love of his life, Clara Bowers. Their love story blossomed into a beautiful partnership that lasted a lifetime. Together, they built a warm and loving home, filled with laughter and cherished memories. Elbert was a devoted father and grandfather, always finding joy in the company of his family. His legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Elbert furthered his education by earning a bachelor's degree from Bellevue University, demonstrating his belief in lifelong learning and personal growth. After his time at Sanderson Plumbing, he continued to serve his community as a warehouse clerk at the BX, where he was known for his friendly demeanor and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Elbert is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Preston Bowser, Carlin Huff, Patricia Walker, Geneva Bass.
Elbert leaves to cherish is unwavering life to his loving wife, Clara Bowser; his children, Chris Bowser of El Paso, TX and Dawnella Bowser of Belleville, IL; his siblings, Annie Webb of Ferriday, LA, Bobby Bowser of Huntersville, SC, Ivory Dean of Vidalia, LA, Marion Dennis of Vidalia, LA, Larry (Hattie) Bowser of Vidalia, LA, Donald Taylor of Ferriday, LA, Benard Chatman of Vidalia, LA, Marie Robinson of Baton Rouge, LA,; two grandchildren, Jayden T. Bowser and Shawn A. Bowser; sisters-in-law, Ruby Kidd of Steens, MS, Betty (Woddie) Kidd of Caledonia, MS, Elizabeth Baker of Steens, MS, Mary Diane Marchbank of Columbus, MS;; brothers-in-law, Tommy James (Geraldine) Gunter of Columbus, MS, Nathaniel Baker, Jessie Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Elbert will forever be remembered for his gentle spirit, infectious smile, and unwavering support. He was a man of integrity, compassion, and strength, and his presence will be deeply missed.
