Obituary

"Sweet Georgia" Mae Brown was born June 20, 1948. She received her wings on April 22, 2024. She was born to the late George and Matilda Lewis Nelson. Georgia was last employed as an independent contractor for Medicaid Transit Care.

Georgia was a leading light among family and friends. Exceptionally dedicated member in church where she was well loved and never met a stranger. She accepted Christ at an early age in Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined United Christian Baptist Church and became a faithful and dedicated member of the Usher and Mother Board. She was a current member of 100 Black Women and the Order of Eastern Star.

Georgia was preceded in death by: her father, George "Snow" Nelson; her mother, Matilda Lewis Nelson; her brothers: Joe Nelson, Willie James Nelson, JB Nelson, John Alsey Nelson, and Jesse Cungious; her sisters, Mary " Baby Sister " Riley; her son, Eddie "Hut " Brown; and granddaughter, Kourtney Foxworth.

Georgia leaves to cherish her memories: a loving husband, Joseph Brown; her children, Amos "Supa" Scaife, Kimberly Gardner, Marquis "Gmac" Gardner, Joseph Brown, Jr., Vera Harris, Billy Brown, Trish Cungious, and Tim James; her grandchildren, Quisha Jackson, Tamara Burnett, Tristan Goodman, Trinity Goodman, and Markayla Gardner; her great-grandchildren, Miracle Jackson and Josiah Burnett. two sisters, Essie (Freddie) Collister and Betty Fisher; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
