Mr. Haywood James was born January 16, 1945, in Columbus, Mississippi, to the late Allen James, Sr. and the late Matilda James.

Haywood loved to sing, dance and share memories of playing all kinds of ball … baseball, football and basketball. Haywood was very friendly and could be animated and comical at times. He loved the old gospel hymns, and his favorite song was "Do Lord".

He loved to socialize with staff and relax with his peers on the front or back porches. Haywood was a ladies' man for sure.  He would always ask the ladies, "How much you weigh?" And then he would remark, "Two pounds?" … something every woman wants to hear!

His early years were spent in Columbus, Mississippi. On January 9, 1977, Haywood was admitted to Boswell Regional Center's Independent Living Skills Training in Magee, Mississippi, from Ellisville State School in Ellisville, Mississippi, and on September 9, 1980, he transitioned to Boswell Regional Center, also in Magee, Mississippi. Since July 22, 2015, Haywood resided at  the Wesson Geriatric/Oakwood Group Home in Wesson, Mississippi and he departed this earthly life on Monday, August 29, 2022.

In addition to his parents, Haywood was preceded in death by his sister, Callie Will James, and six brothers, Theodus James, Ollie James, Jonathan James, Sr., Raleigh James, Sr., Robert Lee James and Dr. Allen James, Jr.

Haywood leaves to cherish his memories: a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and an adoptive family member, "Lil Bit" along with his beloved Boswell staff/friends at Wesson and Magee, Mississippi.
